What’s the difference between the ipad and the ipod touch?

Other than the larger size in the ipad, the reading feature, the keyboard docking and camera connecting feature, the 3G, and the microphone, are there any other benefits of the ipad over the ipod touch. Also, how much is the monthly fee for the 3G network on the ipad?

1. The iPad uses an enhanced version of the iPhone’s mobile version of OSX.
3. The iPad uses a different chip called the A4 chip. Custom built by Apple.
4. The iPad has up to 10 hours of battery usage.
5. It can go for standby for a month.
6. You get free use of AT&T’s WiFi hotspots.
7. No contract- per-paid.

You pay $14.99 for 258 MB of data per month.
You pay 29.99 for unlimited data per month.

Nope, although the bookstore app has potential for online textbooks. And for 3g… i’d have to guess around 10-20 bucks a month?

You mentioned the bigger size as a feature that you already knew, but I think that is the biggest advantage of the iPad over the iPod Touch. Not only will the web be easier to browse on a bigger screen, but apps will be improved to take advantage of the extra screen real estate. I don’t know if you’ve seen any of the apps that already come with the iPad (Mail, Calendar, Photos, etc.) but, in my opinion, they put current desktop applications to shame. Also, at the release, a few developers showed off some apps that they had created for the iPad that were astounding. I think that in the future, the question will not be, "Why would I get a bigger iPod touch?" rather, "Why would I get a smaller iPad?".

Anyways, in the US, the iPad is unlocked but only works on a MicroSim network (think just AT&T), and the plan costs $15 a month for 250 GB of data (which is enough to get most people by) and $30 a month for unlimited data. You activate the plan on the iPad, and it is contract free, so you can cancel whenever you like.

Internationally, no deals have been announced, but since it is unlocked, it will work on a plethora of networks (since a large share use MicroSim)

I dont really see a difference as far as software. The only difference would be that the iPad will have a 3G capability where you can get internet service anywhere and no contract needed. Just pay $X.XX every month and stop paying when you dont want service.

Personally im not getting one, seems kinda unnecessary for my lifestyle (student)..

The iPad is an iTouch with the feature of being a good sled, because of the size.
